Hotel guest register, , 1875-1878.

A guest register from a fishing lodge and meeting place on the shores of Bantam Lake in northwest Connecticut. Includes signature of General U.S. Grant on Sunday, September 12, 1875, and of Sitting Bull on Sunday, June 11, 1876. Guests came from all over the country although the bulk came from New York and Connecticut. Occasional remarks made about the weather and the number and size of fish caught.

Sitting Bull, also known as Tatanka Iyotake or Tatanka Iyotanka or Ta-Tanka I-Yotan, was a Native American shaman and leader of the Hunpapa Sioux. He was born in 1831 in South Dakota.
